CHICAGO — Top 100 retailer Sleepy's, which operates more than 900 bedding specialty stores, held a grand opening party in downtown Chicago recently to celebrate its entry into the Chicago market.

The party at the 177 N. State St. store attracted more than 150 consumers and benefited the Chicago chapter of the Pajama Program, a not-for-profit group that provides pajamas and books to needy children.

The event featured an appearance by DJ Finnigan, the evening radio host on WTMX, and a presentation on better sleep tips from Elizabeth Murphy, Sleepy's "snooze director," who donned pajamas for the party.

The retailer donated 150 pairs of pajamas to the Pajama Program.

Since late June, Sleepy's has opened 10 stores in the Chicago area, and an undetermined number of additional stores are planned later this year.

Sleepy's is ranked No. 9 on Furniture Today's Top 100 list, with estimated furniture, bedding and accessories sales of $976 million in 2012.
